Water for All

Strengthening partnerships for addressing issues relating to water. More than 600 people attended the Water: Crisis and Choices conference held from 11 to 15 October 2010 at ADB headquarters in Manila. Participants included policy makers, water experts and practitioners; donor agencies; and representatives from water utilities, the private sector, civil society, academe, and media from 49 countries. The purpose of the conference was to

• Increase awareness of water issues and solutions for addressing them.

• Build networks and regional cooperation for implementing recommended actions.

• Demonstrate ADB’s commitment to solving water issues over the next decade.

• Strengthen engagement with ADB’s partners in helping countries fulfill their water agenda.

Conference participants discussed their own mandates, expertise, case histories, and cooperation protocols in parallel partnership sessions. At the closing session of the conference, ADB presented its draft Water Operational Framework, 2011–2020 and called for water partnerships for consolidating knowledge concerning the sector and coordinating solutions to water issues throughout the region.
